About Science Meets Art
Science Meets Art is an association that acts as a link between scientists and artists who are interested in the same topics and would like to collaborate on projects with public outreach.
We want to create an active network that connects scientists and artists, online and physically. We organize public events where initial connections are pursued and project outcomes are opened to the public.
Our mission
- Making science more accessible by bringing it closer to the people and importing other points of view into the scientific world.
- Create spaces for artists to express themselves by deepening into topics they did not explore before.
More concretely.. what we do
- Create a network of scientists and artists or scientific and artistic organizations.
- Organize or promote public events for the dissemination and discussion of scientific knowledge from an artistic point of view.
- Support projects in which artists and scientists collaborate to achieve a public outcome.
Why is it important
- The Science industry does not include enough divulgation in projects, funding, etc. Consequently, scientific results are often not well communicated to the general audience. Here, we want to create a space to explore this communication.
- Working with groups of different mentalities and perspectives enriches our view and way to work.
- We understand the artistic process cannot be “forced” or “squeezed” to produce the material; we will facilitate artists to curate a zone to work and reflect on improvisation vs structured work.
